Dowon Seowon is located at 915 Yeonwol-ri, Dongbok-myeon. It was built by local Confucian scholars in the 9th year of Kong Hyeonjong of the Joseon Dynasty(1668) to memorize Sinjae Choi San-du, who came into exile in the Gimyo calamity of savants. It enshrines Seokcheon Im Eok-ryeong, former chief of Dongbok-hyeon in the 28th year of King Jungjong(1553), Hangang Jeong Gu, former chief of Dongbok-hyeon in the 17th year of King Seonjo(1584), and Usan Ahn Bang-jun, a great scholar of Sung Confucianism, who was born at Boseong.
