It is located on
the roadside at the Neoritjae
Tunnel entrance that is a boundary
between Hwasun-gun and Gwangju.
A very popular place for holidays.
¢ÁThe Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers:
Korean soldiers
who left Daegu on April
2, 1951 and arrived in Iyang
on April 5, 1951 were taken
by surprise by red guerrillas
on April 6 at 1:00 am on
a stormy day. Koran soldiers
fought desperately off them
but 26 soldiers died for
their country. They were
buried in this park by help
of the locals on April 8,
1951. Their memorial service
is performed on the 1st
day of the second lunar
month.
¢ÁThe Tomb of the Patriotic Police:
It is located below Mt.
Beombau. 19 police of Hwasun Police
Office were buried. On the way to Hwasun
from Haman, Gyeongnam Province, they
were taken by surprise and were dead
by red guerrillas in Myochi on Oct.
24, 1950. At first 52 people were buried
but some of them got back to their home.
Only the tombs of the soldiers dying
in the Vietnamese War remain now.
