¢Á Geographical features
Mt.
Yongam fixes the boundary between
Hancheon-myeon and Chunyang-myeon.
Mountain features are generally
gentle but this mountain in Hwasun
area. Mt. Yongam looks very steep
and rough like a towering lava(Yongam
means lava in English) word for
ward. Both the side ridgelines
of the top consist of a series
of quartzite. Especially, three
peaks, including the top, are
very sharp enough to endanger
beginners. On the other hand,
this sharp peaks are also loved
by many climbers.
On the way to Gumo Fortress Wall
site, built to protect from Japanese
invaders in the Goyreo Dynasty,
will lead you to immerse in history.
Mt. Yongam was originally called Mt.
Gumo but its name was changed without
people's notice, probably partially
because of towering peaks.
The Hancheon area is famous for crystal
clean water. A mineral spring on the
hillside proves this fame.
Fully blooming azaleas in harmony with
green mountain in spring make here stunning
and fantastic. Wild stone flowers hiding
them between azaleas are showing their
beauty to climbers.
